Toning Flabby Arms

Do you have flabby arms that you cannot seem to get rid of?  Despite the differences between men and women, this is a problem that can develop in both sexes. Luckily, it is possible to tone up flabby arms, though there are a few things you should keep in mind before you start exercising.

Where You Can Tone

One of the most important things you should keep in mind is that it is not possible to reduce specific areas in the back of your arms.  There simply is no such thing as “spot reduction,” so working out a specific muscle is not going to reduce the amount of fat in one certain area on your arms.  Rather, you have to take steps to reduce your overall body fat.  This way, you will lose flab on the back of your arms as well as in other areas throughout your body.  Once you have reduced the amount of fat on your body, you can then begin toning and tightening the muscles so your arms can look more attractive.

With the help of the machines available at AtHomeFitness.com, losing that extra fat can be made much easier.  By working out your cardiovascular system and burning fat, you can enjoy a healthier heart as well as a leaner body.

Exercising Your Arms

Once you have reduced your overall body fat, you can start doing exercise to specifically address the muscles behind your arms.  Or, you can start working on the muscles as you work toward losing the body fat.  Using a rowing machine is one great way to work out your are muscles while also burning calories and leaning out your body.

You might also want to do push ups to help you tone your arm muscles.  Push ups are great for toning the back of the arms and, if you are particularly out of shape, you can still get a good workout for your arms by performing your pushups on your knees.

Another exercise that helps tone the arms is the tricep dip.  By using your own body weight, you can workout your muscles as you lean your hands on a ledge or on the seat of a chair to perform the exercise.  Dumbbells can also help you exercise you arm muscles.  A great exercise for the back of the arms is holding one dumbbell behind your head with both hands.  Be certain to focus on your triceps as you complete each repetition.

You can also do the tricep rope pull-down, though you will need a special machine to help you with this exercise.  With this exercise, you use both hands to grip a rope that is hanging from a machine.  While keeping your arms close to your sides, you pull downward on the rope as you pull your hands apart.

The more you perform these exercises, the more toned the back of your arms will become.  Remember, the ideal routine involves resistance training as well as cardio training, so don’t focus on just one of these types of exercises – focus on your heart as well as your muscles and you will feel great and look great too!
