01 Oct Preview for MLB playoffs, AHF All-Star lineup

This is the best time of year for many baseball teams with the Major League Baseball postseason starting this week.
With the addition of two wild-card teams in 2012, there are once again 10 teams in squads in this year’s playoffs.
It looks to be a wide open, fun field where just about anything might be possible.
Only half the 2013 field was in the postseason last year: Braves, Cardinals, Reds, Tigers and A’s.
My hometown of Cleveland is thrilled to have the Indians back in the playoffs for the first time since 2007. Our nearby football rival, Pittsburgh, has its Pirates in for the first time since 1992.
In the National League, the NL wild card will feature the Reds at the Pirates tonight, with the winner then playing a five-game series against the Cardinals.
The other NL Divisional Series will match the Braves vs. the Dodgers.
In the American League, the Indians will host the Rays Wednesday, with the winner then taking on the Boston Red Sox. Wouldn’t that be something if Tribe skipper Terry “Tito” Francona would lead his current team against his old one – the BoSox?
The other AL Divisional Series will see the Athletics take on the Tigers.
